OUR STORY

Leleng Uyau Along,

by Uyau Moris.

Leleng means “dance around”. The song is thought to be used to comfort orphaned children. The accompanying lute is called 'Sape’, one of the most soothing stringed instruments I’ve ever listened to. 'Sape’ originated among the Kenyah and Kayan peoples; though its later spread throughout Borneo has made it inseparable from the musical traditions of many other Bornean ethnic groups.
